Reopening Statement

Dear Parents/Guardians:

Wishing everyone had a safe and wonderful Thanksgiving.  As you may have heard the Mayor announced schools will re-open on Monday, December 7, 2020 for all students who opted for in person learning.  In order for your child to return to in-person learning, you must submit the consent form for in-school COVID-19 testing by the first day your child returns to the school building. Any child without a consent form will not be allowed into the building. As per the Mayor, 20% of students and staff will be randomly tested for COVID-19 on a weekly basis to ensure everyone’s safety.  We will also continue with the daily health screening questions as well as temperature checks daily.

  • If you need to complete a consent form you can Fill out the form online using a NYC Schools Account
    • If you already have a NYCSA account linked to your student(s): Log in, click your student’s name, click “Manage Account,” and then when a dropdown menu appears, click “Consent Forms.” Read the page, and then choose the consent option at the end for your student.
    • If you do not already have a NYCSA account: You can create one right away! If you have an account creation code from your school, you can create a full account in approximately five minutes, and then provide consent as described above. If you do not have an account creation code from your school, you can still provide your consent right away by clicking “Manage Consent” under “COVID-19 Testing” and filling out your and your child’s information to provide consent.
  • Print and sign the form and bring it to your child’s school on the first day they are back in the school building. A printable PDF file is available in ten languages

I want to assure you that testing is non-invasive, it’s not painful as they only swab the lower part of the nose.  The exam no longer requires a swab going all the way up to the very end of a person’s nose. Many students who have already experienced random testing say “it tickled.”

I thank you in advance for your attention and cooperation to this matter and look forward to seeing your children back in school on Monday.  Should you have any questions or concerns feel free to contact the school at the number indicated above.

Sincerely,

Frances Castillo

Estimados padres / tutores:

Sinceramente,

Frances Castillo

Technology Support

We are committed to making sure that all students can successfully connect to online learning during their at-home learning days.

  • If your student needs a laptop or tablet, fill out the Device Request Form to reserve your device. Borrowing a device is free!
  • If your children experience internet-connectivity issues with their iPads, they can request help through the Technical Support for Families form.
  • Borrowed devices should be used for school purposes only and kept in a secure location. Take your device with you on in-school days.
  • If you are not able to get internet hooked up in your home, your child's teacher will work with you to provide alternative offline assignments.
